The experience allows them to dream bigger; to see the world as every young person should see it— which is full of opportunity, excitement, joy, and challenge. We see the transformation when they come back from the river.

Bring Your Organization On The River

Currently LEAP provides programs for ten non-profit organizations and hospitals in the Portland, Oregon area.

IS MY ORGANIZATION ELIGIBLE?

Every LEAP partnership starts with a need. We require that our partner organizations serve a community of individuals who are experiencing life challenges or adversities. Some examples of the challenges LEAP participants face include severe burn trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), homelessness, lack of social or economic resources, and grief of a family member. LEAP also holds a commitment to our programs being no-cost to our participants. A few of our partner groups request a small registration fee, which can be waived by any family or individual in those communities as needed. Some of our partner organizations generously contribute toward the program costs on behalf of their clients.

BUILDING A RELATIONSHIP

When we find an organization — or you find us — we'll first have a conversation about the community you are serving and if LEAP has the resources to support your group on the river. Together, we can identify the benefits and concerns both parties have, and ultimately, decide if a LEAP program is a good fit for your community.

JOINING US ON THE RIVER

Once we have established a partnership with your organization, we'll explore which LEAP programs are the best fit for your community — from one-day, overnight, or on-site programs in the Metro area — or our Flagship offering of our four-night and five-day journey on the Lower Salmon River in Idaho. LEAP staff will guide designated staff from your organization through the process of recruiting participants,  preparing the group for the river, scheduling transportation and managing other logistics.

The partner organization is responsible for transporting participants to and from the rivers in western Idaho or central Oregon. Once the participants get to the put-in location, LEAP takes care of the rest including programming, food, equipment and car shuttles.
